I like this quite a bit to be frank.
Seem's almost, "Happy"...
The Vocals really keep it moving though. They're not too clear to the point where they would ruin the song or too quiet / inaudible where we couldn't hear them, yet they still retain the theme of the song and not feel terribly out of place.
Seems like a successful experiment to me.

ZLEAP responds:

Thanks.

You're the second person to refer to this as happy.

I suppose the majority rules. But this didn't come from a place of happiness.

The song in general is just, amazing. Not one time did I think "When will this be over?" as say with the beginning of 'Opium Den'. It always kept itself moving and thats what I call a success. Other than that theres a definitely interesting mix of sounds that blend very well. Not one sound bugged me in this, not one. You really overdid it on this.

ZLEAP responds:

That's yet another habit I've been trying to break myself of. This and the previous review should be indication that I've moved my creative thought process in a much better direction. Even when my mind was on the verge of collapse.

I'm glad my insanity has restored your faith in HG.

The music is just fantastic, and the vocals, from what I CAN make out really fit into the weaving of the song similar to "DOE Reinject".
When Deshiel brought up how the vocals could use more power, I decided to compare the two songs vocals.
I feel that the vocals could be a bit louder, the music seems to be overlapping it really.
What I REALLY liked with this when the song got to parts like
" KILL! KILL! Destroy the heretics, " the song seemed to have a really short pause in between
" KILL! KILL! " and " Destroy the heretics, " with the high notes. That was really well done.
Vocals could use a bit more power too put it simply though.

Lich responds:

Thank you for the review :)

The constant itty bitty strum of the guitar, just repeating over and over in parts really adds a nice subtle touch, theres just so many instruments in this, its just Awesome.

sorohanro responds:

Thanks for your kind words. Most of the instruments are live recorded (guitar, trumpets and the trombones, which are actually pitched down trumpets).

The "Scritchy Scratchy" sound that kept repeating up until 1:27 killed it for me, once I got past that it had this uniqueness to it, this great harmony.... The mixture of sounds was beautiful. If you cut down on the prolonged build up or cut it out all together this would probably top it up near some of your best, I myself am tempted to downloading it and cutting the first minute and 27 seconds out, and looping over and over from there!
It could be my taste for all I know, only more reviews will tell.

ZLEAP responds:

The "scritchy scratchy" was a last minute decision to fill quiet space and to keep things a bit irregular. I can work you up a different mix with a shorter intro and no scratch. Should be posted soon.

Thanks.

All of it really fits well together, it weaved almost perfectly, each and every single individual sound.
However nothing really standed out past that, its very good, but it just doesn't have that pop, spice, and everything nice.
The repetitive nature was the only subtraction I thought. Some diversity could of helped it, or broken that tightly woven harmony. Either or.

ZLEAP responds:

I've been sitting on this song for quite some time. I had a somewhat listenable version around the time I released Native. But new ideas kept coming out of it. I couldn't stop until I hit a wall with it. And then I did.

I'm glad you enjoyed.

The backtrack to this is very enjoyable, however...
The Voicing just botched this down... I could not figure out for the love of the backtrack what was being said, a instrumental version would be much much better.

Lich responds:

Thanks for the response.
Thats the two sided argument about the vocals the reviewers who I sent this to on some of the more extreme Metal boards and they think that the Vocal work is fine and suits the style well. Simply clean vocals do not fit this and Newgrounds audio members alway s seem to have a problem with harsher vocal work being used. It's not that much of a challenge to understand, I sung it exactly ad how the vocals are presented in the description and in a style that anyone can do with some self training.

A pleasant piece, 'houth I 'thay! Leth thy lithen to thith for many hourth on endth!
Nithe and thimple. and very, very pleathent! Genuinely nithe thounds, thoo.

A remaster of one of my favourite songs?! Very nice...
Loving the backing track and those vocals!

Lich responds:

Glad you enjoy! :D

The little bit of drums made it... Powerful, if it didn't have those drums, it would have felt really plain.
Really nice job on this one.

ZLEAP responds:

It kind of needed to be plain in order to set a proper mood and make certain parts more alive without making it too busy. I'm glad you liked it.
